At the start of the month Jaguar Land Rover announced that all vehicles fitted with the advanced infotainment system Pivi Pro will now be equipped with Amazon Alexa1.
Alexa enables drivers to control music 2, navigation, hear the news, check the weather and control smart home devices3 just by asking - all without your mobile phone.
Seamless integration with Pivi Pro will allow for simple voice control ensuring drivers keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.
Over 200,000 customers will receive the simple message to their devices touchscreen, letting them know their vehicle is compatible to the new update.
It also isn't just Pivi Pro equipped vehicles that will be eligible for this update, as respective US & UK models fitted with Touch Pro Infotainment systems will also be able to convert to Amazon Alexa4.
Christian Mentz, Head of Alexa Automotive International, said: “Customers around the world interact with Alexa billions of times each week, making life easier, more productive, and more fun. We’re excited to deliver that same delightful, convenient experience to Jaguar and Land Rover customers – and because Alexa is always getting smarter, new features and capabilities will be added over time and delivered to their vehicles automatically.”
